The loss of such large limbs has removed a lot of stored energy, left large wounds that could become infected with disease and Beech trees do not like severe pruning. I would like to think that a reduction of the crown thus reducing the weight on the removed limbs would have sufficed but as I said it is not good to judge with such little information.<br /><br />I remember you showing us the shots of this tree when you first saw it.
