Belton House

At Christmas we received membership to the National Trust as a gift from Dancin' Fool, In The Pink.
Thank you Dancin' and today we visited Belton House and gardens.
The first picture is of the first Earl Brownlow's Cript, outside the Norman church in the grounds of Belton House.
The second is the Hot House. What a conservatory it is.
It was a wonderful day. People and children were enjoying the many pleasures available to them, as were we.
It is too large to take in all that is on offer in one go, so we plan a return visit soon.

Beautiful photos and what a wonderful day weather wise for a visit. I went to Belton House once but it was a grey day.

I am glad you had a good day out and plan to return.

I meant to say, that really is some hot house! Imagine all the lovely fruit you could grow in there!

Did you get to go in and if so what were they growing?

It reminds me of the hot houses at Kew which are filled with tropical plants.

Hi Dancin'.It was a wonderful day out and there were hundreds of like minded people sharing the day.
We enjoyed the house tour as well.
The hot house had citrus fruits in and lots of vines and palms, floor to roof.
You know me I was fastening up vine tendrils which were in danger of being snapped off.
There is a monument inside with a pond at its base. With some very healthy gold fish and a fan tail, quite tame.
Outside the fountains were on and a sprinkler system in which the children were playing to keep cool.
There is a second hand book area, gift shop, plant shop, eating places garden furniture place, lake and boathouse,Norman church. A visitors centre is being built as we speak.
WE look forward to our next visit.

It sounds lovely, my mouth is watering at the thought of fresh oranges and lemons off the tree!

A walk thru the woods and up past the 1st lake, and then on to the 2nd lake is well worth while.

If you visit here Dancin' you can pick Kumquats off our tree.
Lemons in the greenhouse too. I am still waiting on the olive tree to produce fruits.
Belton is a lovely place to visit.
