We visited again last week to find the Health and Safty team had chosen their cuts.
I wondered just how long it had taken those branches to grow.
On a positve note however there is an increase in regeneration of trees in the area.

Umm...we always say it is not fair to criticize pruning when you have not seen the tree in the flesh and do not know the justification however we do not approve from what we do know! The loss of such large limbs has removed a lot of stored energy, left large wounds that could become infected with disease and Beech trees do not like severe pruning. I would like to think that a reduction of the crown thus reducing the weight on the removed limbs would have sufficed but as I said it is not good to judge with such little information.
I remember you showing us the shots of this tree when you first saw it. I hope it copes. Thanks for posting these, it is interesting.
