Tree Identity I will need a couple of arboriculturists to identify this tree for me. It was imposing, and must have been there for some considerable time given its size.
That's fabulous! It's a common beech, Fagus sylvatica, one of my favourites, and at an educated estimate between 250-400 years old. But I am guessing at girth from the look of the photo.
Beautiful pictures by the way, especially of the Tay Bridge.

Thank you both I would own that Lord L took the photos of the full tree and the bridge, but I took the tree trunk photo.
